SMS links: How to send links, images and videos in your SMS messages

Links in messages

Videos, PDFs, images and links can all be inserted into an SMS message. It's as easy as attaching a file when sending an email.

With SureSMS you get a unique opportunity to send links in your SMS messages. We have created our own URL shortener that makes it possible to display videos, pdf files, images and much more in SMS messages.

Add link to message

In the screenshot above, you can see what it looks like when you want to add a link or file to your SMS message. You can choose any kind of file, but we recommend choosing either an image or a PDF file, as these are the formats most cell phones can open.

If you choose to create a link, you can do it in two ways.

Either you can write the link directly in messages, e.g.: https://mitdomain.dk/kampagne1.
You can also choose to insert a Normal Link. Here you write https://mitdomain.dk/kampagne1 in the link field, but when the recipient receives the message it says https://a-l.ink/HdB6sg.

Read about branded URLs herewhere you use a link that looks like this: https://m.mitfomain.dk/fhdcd

When they click on the link, a page opens on our server where we check who clicked, which phone they clicked from, what time it is and much more. The user is then redirected to the final address. This allows us to measure who has clicked and report this to you.

    Link tracking in SMS marketing

With the special link functionality in our SMS sender, you also get the ability to track. You can see who clicked on a link, how long they watched a video, how many times they clicked and when. All valuable information if you're doing marketing.

    1. Shorter and clearer links result in a higher click-through rate: When your links are shorter and "prettier", they look more credible and transparent. This can lead to a higher average click-through rate as recipients are more likely to click on the link.
    2. Provides valuable campaign data such as click-through rates and conversions: By using link tracking in your SMS campaigns, you gain valuable insights into how your campaigns perform in terms of click-through rates and conversions. This knowledge can be used to plan and optimize future campaigns.
    3. Provides an overview of campaign bounce rates: By using unsubscribe links, you can quickly see which campaigns your recipients don't like. This knowledge can be used to optimize future campaigns or drop those that aren't performing well. In other words, link tracking allows you to see which of your SMS campaigns are performing well and which may need more work in the future.

    Unsubscribe SMS via link

Link in SMS can also be used if recipients want to unsubscribe from your newsletter. This link is automatically inserted if you select the relevant checkbox when sending out. All the recipient has to do to unsubscribe from the newsletter is click on the link.

Here you can read some examples of how our customers use the "Group SMS" feature today

    • A medium-sized Jutland-based transportation company uses group text messaging to send work assignments to their drivers. The SMS messages sent contain logistical information about cargo, location and pick-up.
    • An online gaming company gains new customers by sending group text messages with links to potential online games to their users.
    • At a Danish hospital, the head of the canteen regularly sends out group text messages to lucky staff about social events and important occasions: "Today there's cake in the canteen!" or "Tomorrow we're celebrating summer with a Friday barbecue in the courtyard!"

SureSMS is integrated with our POS and financial system, so the messages are sent automatically to our customers' customers when the order is completed. "Our relationship with SureSMS has been great and they have always been quick to help us get new customers up and running. Once it's up and running, we don't talk to them anymore because there are never any problems.

At Fujitsu, we have a number of field technicians who are on the road every day and forget to attend our weekly Skype meetings because they're buried deep in technical equipment at customer sites. Since we started sending out SMS reminders an hour before the meetings, we've had a much higher attendance and they actually say that the reminders are a great help.
