SMS integration for Marketing Automation

With SMS integration to your marketing automation platform, you can target customers more accurately, faster and with a better response rate.

SMS to and from marketing automation systems

If you're looking for an SMS integration for your marketing automation system, you've come to the right place. Here at SureSMS, we're experts in this field. We've already developed integrations for some of the most popular marketing automation platforms, but no challenge is too big. So if you need an integration that doesn't yet exist, we can certainly handle that task too.

Read on to find out why you should invest in an SMS module for your marketing automation system - and how we can help you do just that.

What is SMS marketing?

SMS marketing is a marketing strategy that involves promoting and/or selling a company's products and services through SMS. It is a very direct form of communication between a company and its (potential) consumers and is especially popular for promoting quick offers or relaying important messages.

Sending an SMS is incredibly easy, which is probably why this particular communication platform is so popular - both in private and among businesses. In fact, most of us are so familiar with SMS that we can easily send a text message while ordering our morning coffee.

However, when it comes to SMS marketing, it's not always that simple. If you work with SMS in your business, you may often need to send a lot of SMS messages at once or send specific SMS messages to specific customers at specific times. This is where SMS automation comes in.

What is marketing automation?

Marketing automation is about automating a wide range of your marketing tasks. You do this with the help of a marketing automation software system. This type of system is designed to automate various tasks such as sending marketing emails and SMS messages. It's called email automation and SMS automation respectively.

Why use SMS in marketing automation?

The ability to automate parts of your marketing activities is also the opportunity to save a lot of time, increase your efficiency and ensure your customers feel valued even on your busiest days.
In addition, several studies show that the average open rate for SMS is 98 %, while the average response rate is 45 %. In comparison, the average open rate for emails is around 20 % and the response rate is 6 % (Gartner.dk, 2016).

Yes, the numbers speak for themselves. SMS marketing is incredibly effective. So effective, in fact, that it's popularly known as "Email on steroids".

Integrate SMS with your marketing automation platform

With an SMS module in your marketing automation software, you can communicate with your customers in a more precise, fast and direct way - and with a high response rate. You also have the ability to send thousands of SMS messages at once. A feature that many companies make use of.

There are many marketing automation systems available. Some of the most popular are MailChimp, CampaignMonitor, ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, Hubspot and Salesforce. Each system has its pros and cons. For example, some systems have their own integrated SMS solution, while others require integration with an external SMS platform. Also, not all automation software offers SMS in Denmark, even if they have an SMS solution.

In many cases, it will be relevant to look into an SMS integration so you can use your marketing automation platform to send relevant SMS messages to your target audience.

    ActiveCampaign <-> SureSMS

    If you use ActiveCampaign, we've made it really easy for you to integrate SMS into your marketing. AC has a built-in SMS option, but unfortunately it doesn't support Opt-out, attachment and brand sender ID. In addition, we have a much better delivery reliability in Northern Europe than ActiveCampaign and cheaper prices.

    Klaviyo <-> SureSMS

    If you use Klaviyo for your marketing, we've made it incredibly easy for you to integrate SMS into your campaigns. Unfortunately, while Klaviyo has a built-in SMS feature, it doesn't support opt-outs, attachments and sender ID. With our SMS solution, you can benefit from better delivery reliability in Northern Europe and cheaper prices.

    So if you want to send SMS messages in your Klaviyo campaigns, you can rely on our reliable SMS gateway and enjoy the benefits of using a dedicated SMS service designed to increase engagement and improve your results.

    Drip <-> SureSMS

    If you're using Drip for your marketing, take a look here. Although Drip works with SMS features, they are not as extensive and do not work in Denmark. With our SMS solution, you can benefit from better delivery reliability in Northern Europe and cheaper prices.

    So if you want to send SMS messages in your Drip campaigns, you can benefit from our integration and a dedicated SMS service designed to increase engagement and improve your results.

    Possibilities with SMS automation

    There are many possibilities when integrating SMS with your marketing automation software. For example, if you work with SMS automation, you can send:

    • Promotions for special offers, holidays and anniversaries
    • Follow-ups and alerts to internal and external audiences
    • Messages that allow feedback and responses from your customers
    • Abandoned basket and winback flows
    • The same message to thousands of recipients at once
    • Automatic SMS messages when consumers have taken specific actions like signing up for your loyalty program etc.

    #1 Promotions and offers

    This feature is one of the most popular when it comes to SMS automation. With this feature, your business can send SMS messages to a specific customer segment or list of customers, informing them of special offers on products or services that they are interested in.

    For example, you can attach a discount code or even a link in your SMS that takes the customer directly to your webshop where they can shop at a discount.

    #2 Follow-ups and alerts

    Follow-ups or alerts work really well if you want to generate additional sales. For example, this could be for items that have been out of stock but are now back in stock. Here you can let consumers on the waiting list know that the item is back in stock. It can also be a reminder that someone has booked a table in your restaurant or similar.

    #3 Feedback and answers

    Surprisingly few businesses make sure to get feedback from customers who have shopped with them - even though this feedback can be extremely valuable. The solution is to set up the feedback function in your SMS automation. This can be done via NPS, for example, where the customer is asked to provide feedback after they have shopped or perhaps spoken directly with the company.

    A good way to do this is to ask the customer to rate their experience from 1-10. It's quick and easy, and in our experience, the response rate is often over 50 % on this type of message.

    #4 Abandoned basket and winback flows

    A final, but also incredibly underrated SMS feature is to create automation flows such as abandoned cart and winback. An abandoned cart flow ensures that if a customer has left the cart without shopping, they are reminded that the items are still in the cart and that they can continue shopping. Winback is an automatic SMS sent to previous customers who haven't shopped for a while. This is incredibly smart, as it's generally easier to reactivate old customers than to persuade new ones to shop with you.

    How much does SMS from marketing automation systems cost?

    At SureSMS, we offer different solutions. You can either choose to set up a Gateway account, where you only pay for the SMS messages you actually send. You can also choose our 2-way solution, where you pay a fixed monthly subscription and SMS rate.

    If we already have an integration for your favorite system, there's no cost to set up. If you're looking for an integration we haven't yet developed, we're happy to put together a great price to develop the integration you need.
